The Smokin' Story

The Smokin' R BBQ is a caterer, competition team and food truck, that brings Traditional BBQ cooked slow and low with a New Mexican twist to events and parties of all sizes from large music festivals to backyard Celebrations.  You can also find us doing pop up parties at local galleries, breweries and charity events. 

The Smokin' R BBQ smokes its meats with a mixture of woods found in New Mexico and the southwest such as oak, hickory, pecan, apple and cherry to give it a perfect smokey flavor.  We use locally sourced meats and vegetables as much as possible, and always have the highest quality available.  We make all of our own rubs and sauces to make sure that we bring you great traditional smoked BBQ while staying true to our New Mexican routes.

The Pit Master

Ryan Mayer spent his informative years learning from his father Jean Mayer at the Hotel St. Bernard in Taos Ski Valley.  He studied restaurant and hotel management at Texas Tech University until he left to be General manager of "The Old Blinking Light Restaurant" where he spent his 20's.  He then took a hiatus from the restaurant world but is now back to bring great traditional Slow and low smoked BBQ with a New Mexican twist and that Mayer Hospitality.
